Three-day workshop on R-DNA Technology and Genetic Engineering in collobration with Make-intern E-Cell of IIT Khargpur,begins at Sangam University

Sangam University and MakeInterns in collaboration with E-cell of IIT Kharagpur successfully inaugurated a three day workshop on rDNA technology and genetic engineering. The opening ceremony of the workshop was held on 10.10.2022. The resource person for the workshop is Dr. Narottam Sharma (Scientist & Head) DNA Labs- A Center for Applied Sciences, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

Prof. Karunesh Saxena, President, Sangam University, Prof. Rajeev Mehta, Registrar Sangam University, Prof. Rakesh Bhandari, Dean Research, Prof. Preeti Mehta, Dean School of Basic and Applied Sciences and Mr Anurag Sharma, Head Training and Placement Cell Sangam University were present in the event. Students of Sangam University as well as Rajasthan University participated in workshop. The main objective of this workshop to provide the best learning environment to students.

In this event, Dr. Narottam Sharma while addressing the students said that this 3 days workshop will be practical training for the students. He said that this would be the best platform for the students to showcase their skills in front of the best minds.

Theory as well as practical sessions on Genomics, Gene Sequencing, Cloning, Recombinant DNA, RTPCR will be conducted during the workshop and participants will be given DNA isolation, electrophoresis, LIVE demonstration of RTPCR and practical demonstration of gene sequencing. Students will go through the evaluation process throughout the workshop session and merit students will represent your college in the final round which will be conducted at @IIT Campus.

NPTEL COURSE-Technologies for Clean and Renewable Energy Production

In School of Basic and Applied Science, B. Sc. Vth Semester/ IIIrd Year overall 12 students enrolled for a two Credit and 8 Week MOOC course namely Technologies for Clean and Renewable Energy Production run by Prof. Dr. Prasenjit Mondal, Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India. The course deals with the production of energy from different fossil fuels through cleaner routes as well as from renewable resources. It is intended to help the young scientific professionals to keep their knowledge upgraded with the current thoughts and newer technology options along with their advances in the field of the utilization of different types of energy resources for cleaner energy production. Students learned about various energy production strategies via different routes. Also learnt about application part of these resources. This will help them to develop a positive attitude towards Science and Technology: Future India. The course consists of 8 Assignments to be submitted on weekly basis and out of that best 6 are too marked for assessment. And has a final exam of 100 marks. Certificate of completion will be issued on successful submission of all the assignments and appearing in the final exam with more than 40 % score. This course was coordinated by Mr. Jagdish Chandra Jat, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry.

Industrial visit organized by Department of Chemistry

Visited Place – (1) Sangam India Limited- Thermal power plant, ETP Plant
(2) Sanwariya Oxygen Plant Swaroop Ganj

An industrial visit was organized by the Department of Chemistry, Sangam University on 22nd September, in which the students were made to visit the thermal power plant and ETP plant of Sangam India Limited,where the entire process of the thermal and ETP plant was explained.Shri Prem Shankar Ji of Sangam India Limited explained where coal is stored, how it is turned in to boiler and how electricity is produced from it, along with Shri Narayan Lal Ji Gadri explained about the ETP plant in which the wastewater is generated in the industry how it cycling and how finally used by thesame purpose. Along with that, the students also visited the Sanwaria Gas Plant located in Rico Industrial Area of Swaroopganj, where Mr. Hukum Singh explained how oxygen is manufactured also stores Nitrogen and Argan as the side product, by explaining the whole process, the curiosities of the studentswere pacified. The whole visit done in direction of faculty coordinators Mr. Pankaj Sen, Mr. Jagdesh Chandra Jat, and Dr. Nirma Dhakar form the Department of Chemistry.
