B.Sc. (Hons.) Zoology

The Department of Zoology offers a B.Sc. (Hons) Zoology program that adheres to the Outcome Based Education (OBE) and Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The emphasis is on teaching students the principles and developments in all branches of Zoology so they may connect ideas to current scientific events and develop strong conceptual understanding in order to become future researchers and academicians.

Duration: 4 Yrs. (8 Semesters)

ELIGIBILITY

A student must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths/Biology as core subjects with a minimum of 50 % aggregate marks in 10+2 from a recognized institution and board.

Admission Criteria

SU Entrance Exam or CUET or subject to fulfill eligibility criteria.

Program Education Objectives [PEO]

PEO1: To acquire conceptual knowledge and practical expertise related to basic and applied disciplines of animal science.

PEO 2: Understand the nature and basic concepts of cell biology, genetics, taxonomy, physiology, ecology and applied Zoology.

PEO 3: To exhibit technical skills to design experimental protocols, data analysis and interpretation of observations / results along with inculcation of research aptitude.

PEO 4: To recognize the scope and potential of animal science to address issues associated with environment and biodiversity conservation, industries, health and society.

PEO 5: To acquire eligibility to appear in competitive examination and exhibit skills to pursue carrier in research, industries including government and private organizations..

PO 1: Demonstrate and apply the fundamental knowledge of the basic principles of major fields of Zoology

PO 2: Apply knowledge to solve the issues related to animal sciences

PO 3: Take appropriate steps towards conservation of endemic and endangered animal species

PO 4: To foster curiosity in the students for Zoology

PO 5: To create awareness amongst students for the basic and applied areas of Zoology

PO 6: To orient students about the importance of abiotic and biotic factors of environment and their conservation

PO 7: To provide an insight to the aspects of animal diversity.

PO 8: To inculcate good laboratory practices in students and to train them about proper handling of lab instruments.

PO 9: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Zoology and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team.

PO 10: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change

PO 11: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

PO 12: Inculcate lifelong learning ability and acquire eligibility to pursue research and identify different carrier opportunities.
