Duration: 2 Years (4 Semesters)

The Department of Zoology offers a M.Sc. Zoology program that adheres to the Outcome Based Education (OBE) and Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The emphasis is on teaching students specifically Zoology and related applied branches of zoology so they may connect ideas to current scientific events and develop strong conceptual understanding in order to become future researchers and academicians.

ELIGIBILITY

The candidate must have qualified his/ her B.Sc. (BCZ) / B.Sc (Hons) with Zoology as a regular subject at graduation level. The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks.

Admission Criteria

SU Entrance Test or Subject to fulfilling eligibility criteria.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

PEO-1: To develop a strong and competent knowledge in Animal science.

PEO-2: To identify the interdisciplinary approach of biological studies in context to application of genetic engineering, microbiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics and other disciplines of life science in zoological studies.

PEO-3: To develop technical skills through various laboratory training, research methodology, communication and presentation skills by giving seminars and presentations in all functional areas of various subjects in zoology.

PEO-4: To understand the applications of Zoology in Agriculture, Medicine and daily life.

PEO-5: To make students aware of their role in nature as protectors, preservers, and promoters of life, achieved by learning, observing, and understanding life.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs)

PO-1: To acquire knowledge about concepts of basic and applied fields of zoology.

PO-2: To identify application and implementation of allied fields of life science such as biotechnology, microbiology, analytical techniques, bioinformatics in animal science.

PO-3: To depict profound technical skills to conduct experiments, record observations, interpret data, and derive conclusions.

PO-4: To inculcate the ability to apply modern tools, techniques, computer programming, biostatistics and identify their application in scientific studies.

PO-5: To enhance their presentation, communication, and writing skills through training, presentations, and seminars.

PO-6: To identify the potential of animal science studies in addressing problems related to society, environment, and medicine.

PO-7: To demonstrate knowledge related to various disciplines of zoology including animal physiology, biochemistry, genetics, ecology and evolution, reproductive and developmental biology along with fundamentals of other allied sciences.

PO-8: To provide technical expertise to design and conduct laboratory experiments along with critical thinking ability to analyze data and interpret results.

PO-9: To implement bio-analytical tools and other research techniques as an interdisciplinary approach to design or derive a solution to problems of biodiversity, healthcare and medicine, agriculture, society, and industry.

PO-10: To develop professional proficiency to work in a team and identify widespread career opportunities in government and private sectors, research, and industries.
