The B.Sc in Agriculture course at Sangam University equips students with all-round knowledge of agriculture sector.

A B.Sc. Agriculture + MBA (Integrated) course is a combination program that combines the technical knowledge of agriculture with management skills. The program typically takes five years to complete and offers students an opportunity to gain expertise in both the fields.

During the first three years of the program, students will focus on developing a strong foundation in agriculture, covering topics such as soil science, crop cultivation, plant breeding, agricultural engineering, and animal husbandry. In the fourth and fifth year, students will learn management skills, including accounting, finance, marketing, human resource management, and entrepreneurship.

Programme Details

The objective of this course is to create a platform to motivate and provide systematic guidance to the students to realize their dream as agri-preneurs. Agribusiness here at our university focuses on training students in the principles and practices of agricultural production, value addition, marketing, supply chain, global trends and future challenges. Students will get an in-depth idea about Agribusiness through regular interaction with industry leaders, seminars, workshops etc. MBA in Agri-Business is one of the fastest growing sectors to be in, both as an entrepreneur and a professional. The course is related to the business of crop cultivation, food production and the various related business concepts in agriculture. The curriculum explores the whole range of agronomic products grown in India, their importance and needs. The course attempts to understand and innovate ways and means to protect and preserve agrarian sources, and also focuses on their related objectives and effectiveness in commercial operations, besides conducting constant research in farm maintenance.

Course Goals

The program aims to develop students' communication and outreach skills so that they can effectively disseminate agricultural knowledge to farmers and other stakeholders. Ultimately, the goal of the program is to produce graduates who are well-equipped to contribute to the development of the agriculture sector, both in India and globally.

Duration & Eligibility

Interested aspirants for the course should fit into the below-mentioned eligibility criteria.

Completion of Intermediate (12 years of school education) in Science stream

Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Mathematics as the subjects of study

Apart from this, candidates with Intermediate in Agriculture stream are also eligible to apply.

A Minimum of 45% Aggregate marks in 10+2 examination from any recognized Board(Through JET Rajasthan).

1. What is the scope of Agricultural Science course?
After completion of the Agricultural Science course from Sangam University, students will be able to understand and analyse the current events and issues that are occurring in field of agriculture and how they affect its future. Students will be able to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills as they apply their knowledge to a variety of animal/plant production systems.
2. What subjects are covered in this course?
The study of agriculture is defined as “Agricultural Science”. Agricultural field includes horticulture, crop production, animal production, farm management, businesses & industries which buy & process farm products, manufacture of agricultural machinery, banking activities and agriculture marketing as well as research for improving quality & quantity of farm products, etc.
3. Does the government sector offer job opportunities to agricultural graduates?
According to one study, it is estimated that the annual requirement for agriculture professionals by 2020 would be around 65,000. Considering the present supply, there would be a shortage of about 30,000 professionals, thus giving a clear indication of a bright future ahead for agriculture professionals. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts an annual competitive examination for recruitment in the Indian Forest Services, for which one of the educational qualifications required is a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture. Good opportunities lie in other agriculture specific jobs such as Staff Selection Commission (SSC) IBPS Specialists Officer (AO) Food Corporation of India (FCI), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).Moreover, there are a large number of local, national and international private business organisations, manufactures and NGOs where agriculture professionals can find decent employment. Software companies are also looking for domain experts in agriculture industry to plan, design and implement different software solutions targeting the agriculture sector. 4. What are career opportunities for B.Sc in agriculture graduates?

Master’s in Agriculture (India): After completing BSc Agriculture, continuing with higher agricultural education is one of the career options. There are a number of reputed agriculture institutions in India to join for MSc specialising in one of the agriculture areas after qualifying with good rank in PG entrance examination conducted by SAUs/ ICAR for JRF.

Master’s in Agriculture (Foreign): Study abroad option is also available where lot of foreign universities admit Indian BSc Agriculture graduates with scholarships (Commonwealth Scholarship, Erasmus Mundus etc).

Master’s in Science As an Agriculture graduate, one can continue higher education with masters in biotechnology (plant /animal) through IIS, IIT, JNU, Bose University and a few more, for which appearing in entrance exams conducted by respective institutions is required.

Master of Business (Agribusiness /General): There are a large number of universities/institutions like IIM-A and IIM-L, where MBA with specialisation in Agri related business is offered.

Candidates who have passed the Senior Secondary (10+2) examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan, Ajmer or any other Statutory Board or any examination recognized equivalent by the university in any combination of following subjects in Science/Agriculture stream are eligible to appear in JET: Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics i.e. ABC, PCM, PCMB, PCB, PCA etc. Only JET pass students are eligible for admission in B.Sc (Ag) Hons. No, students coming from Arts and Commerce stream are not eligible to enroll.
