M.Sc. Environmental Science

The MSc Environmental Science program offered by the Department of Environmental Science follows the choice-based credit system (CBCS) and outcome-based education (OBE). The program aims to develop a holistic and problem-solving approach to environmental problems in students from diverse academic backgrounds. Our curriculum is designed to equip students with multidisciplinary approach that integrates the science of environmental studies with technical skills and social issues. We provide holistic knowledge on the theoretical and practical aspects needed to address current environmental issues and challenges. Students will acquire knowledge on ecosystem studies, biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, geoinformatics, waste water management and sustainable development through this course.

Duration: 2 Yrs. (4 Semesters)

ELIGIBILITY

Minimum 50% marks in B.Sc. Environmental Science or Minimum 55% Marks in Graduation in any branch of Science or Engineering.

Admission Criteria

SU Entrance Exam or subject to fulfilling eligibility criteria.

Program Education Objectives [PEO]

PEO1: To prepare the students in identifying, analyzing and solving environmental problems.

PEO 2: To train the students in developing practical and executable solutions to the challenges of growing field of Environment.

PEO 3: To impart the students with strong base of knowledge to produce confident, technical; creative, and employable postgraduates

PEO 4: To Create awareness and innovation to inculcate the students with the sensitivity towards . ethics, public policies and their responsibility towards the society.

Program Outcomes [POs]

PO 1: Acquired fundamental knowledge of different aspects of environment and local, regional and global environmental problems.

PO 2: Understand the physical, chemical and biological components of Earth’s environment, the ecological concepts, and principles, processes including human and natural disturbances that impact the environment.

PO 3: Developed environmental monitoring skills, including conduct of experiments data analysis and interpret data through laboratory and field exercises.

PO 4: PO 4 Understand the issues of environmental contexts and sustainable development and assess the potential environmental impact of development projects and design mitigation measures.

PO 5: Interpret and apply applicable and emerging environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.

PO 6: Find professional level employment or pursue higher studies.

PO 7: Recognize different value systems including your own, understand the moral dimensions of your decisions, and accept responsibility for them.

PO 8: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

PO 9: Speak, read, write and listen clearly in person and through electronic media in English and in one Indian language, and make meaning of the world by connecting people, ideas, books, media and technology.
